It's inevitable that this site will be evolving.  It's simply my nature to embrace change.  So, to keep you informed of the latest upcoming features, I'll announce them here.   If you've visited me before and want to know what's new or even what's to come, check out the items you'll find described below.

What's New:

~ New for June 2008 ... The Online Photo Gallery has been Redesigned
Once again, I've redesigned the Online Photo Gallery, and added new images.  Take a look!

~ New for February 2008 ... "Hawaiian Islands"
You can find these new images within the online "Photo Gallery". Just click the "New - Hawaiian Islands" tab on the photo gallery menu.

~ New article for February 2008 ... "Deb's Raw Workflow"
If you currently shoot digital, this article will be of interest to you.  In it she covers her workflow by providing a concise list of steps taking the reader from the field to the home/studio. Find out which softwares she uses too.

Previously Added Features:

~ New for October 2007 ... A Brand New Online Photo Gallery system
I've incorporated a new, smoother operating, user-friendly "Photo Gallery" system.  You may browse and search a wide assortment of images by subject or region and make online purchases of your favorite images with just the click of a button. 

~ New for August 2007 ... "Arid Lands: Forms & Features 1"
I had the opportunity to take a peak at Death Valley National Park and I've added a collection of images from that visit.  You can find them at "Arid Lands: Forms & Features 1".  Death Valley is a remarkable region, one that I hope to be able to return to again.

~ New for May 2007 ... "The Yellowstone Ecosystem"
This new series of images showcases Yellowstone National Park and its surrounding region.  Including both scenic and wildlife photography, the collections are called "Yellowstone Country 1", "Yellowstone Country 2", and "Yellowstone Country 3".  Happy browsing!

~ New Wildlife Collection
The Elk and Deer collection features intimate views of these lovely mammals.

~ New Bird Collection for Spring 2007 ~
Songbirds Collection 1 is a grouping of passerine bird images common to Southeast US during this time of year. You'll notice several species are just beginning to change into their breeding colors.

~ New for Summer 2006 ... "Glimpses of Yosemite National Park"
I was recently in California and was thrilled to be able to spend a couple of days in Yosemite National Park.  Though this visit was brief, I pulled together several images I hope you'll enjoy.  This new image collection is called "Glimpses of Yosemite National Park".  Happy browsing!

~ Announcement ... DST photograph in special exhibit
One of Deb's prints was recently on display at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, California.  The special exhibit, "Lieutenant Ronald Reagan and the U.S. Cavalry" ran from June 18, 2005 through July 5, 2006.  The photo is of an historic Navajo pictograph depicting the horse and horse soldier in the American West.

~ New Wildlife Photography Ethics article ~
The first article in this series discusses the issue of baiting for wildlife.

~ New Website Look ~
You've probably noticed that things look a little bit different here these days.  This redesign is intended to be easier to navigate and have improved functionality.  Hopefully, it's a visual improvement as well.  You may find that a few of the pages have new URLs so don't forget to update your bookmarks.

~ New for Fall 2004 ... "Alaska's Beauty"
Alaska is one of my favorite places. Its ruggedness and beauty thrill my heart and spirit. This August I was fortunate to be able to revisit Alaska. This new image collection, titled "Alaska's Beauty", presents another glimpse of its captivating wild lands and a few of the critters who inhabit them. Enjoy!

~ New for Summer 2004 ... "Embracing Tonality: Collection #2"
My love of black and white photography has inspired me to compile a second collection. "Embracing Tonality: Collection #2" includes images of structure. From the delicate tonality of plant forms to dramatic geologic formations sculpted over time, this collection is drawn from photographs shot while in Arizona, Utah, Alaska and Tennessee. Enjoy!

~ New Gallery Collection Print for Spring 2004!
The "Northern Arizona" collection is now available as a Gallery Collection Print for 2004!  You may choose from three different sizes (8.5x11, 11x14, and 13x19).  Order yours today.

~ "Adopt A Pet, Please"
Here's a new article added to the Essays & More section.  It was written by my dog, Utah.  She's quite the talented canid!

~ "New Mexico: Enchanting Journeys" ... a New Collection for Spring 2004
April 2004: First visit to New Mexico.  Upon arrival the fair weather and blue sky of previous weeks transformed into an unusually vast and kinetic weather system blanketing the state.  And so the weather guided the adventure.  What resulted was a fascinating discovery of cultural diversity rich in tradition and history.  What coalesced was a new project I've come to call "New Mexico: Enchanting Journeys".

~ "Essays & More"
I've added a brand new section to my website that I'm very excited about named Essays & More.  This section features informative articles, essays, resource links and more.  This section, like the Photo Gallery, will be added to routinely so check back from time to time.

~  New for Winter 2003/2004!  "Northern Arizona" ... a New Image Collection
I'm back from my latest trip and have added a new collection of images to the Photo Gallery page.  "Northern Arizona" features ancient ruins, rock art and geologic features of this region. 

~ Photo Note Cards are here!
Thanks to a dear friend's suggestion, I'm now offering photographic Note Card sets.  You may select from among the many Photo Gallery Image Collections.  Each set includes 10 note cards with envelopes. 

~ IMAGES BY D. S. TAPPAN NEWSLETTER is here!
At your request (of course), I will notify you by email when I've added new Image Collections to the Photo Gallery page; added new features to this web site; or offer new products in the "Gift Shop".  If you'd like to receive this information, simply indicate so by filling out the Newsletter subscription form.

~ Introducing "Saprophytes: Ephemeral Beauties" ... New Fall 2003!
I've recently added another new theme to the Photo Gallery page.  My most recent life form "discovery" and obsession, saprophytes (ex. mushrooms and fungi), grace these two new collections with their stunning form and color.  This newly featured theme, entitled Saprophytes: Ephemeral Beauties, is in addition to the recently added collections of Embracing Tonality and Spring's Blossoms, Summer's Blooms.  I'm very pleased to be able to share these special collections with you!  I hope you enjoy discovering this fascinating life form.  (Special thanks are given by me to Peter Super of the National Park Service and Dr. Ron Petersen of the University of Tennessee for graciously providing species identification from my photographs where possible.)

~ The "Gift Shop" is Now Open!
At long last, the Gift Shop is open for your convenience.  You can purchase "Gallery Collection Prints", "Customized Image Collection Prints" and "Single Image Prints" quickly and securely online.  Queries regarding "Single Image Prints" availability can be placed by emailing me.  More items may be added at a later date.  A portion of the proceeds from these sales will be donated to environmental organizations which safeguard our spectacular lands.  So, happy shopping!
